Soulframe Preludes 9

Soulframe Preludes 9 arrives, inviting new and returning Envoys to choose their Pact. Align with one of three revealed Factions, each offering new unique Pacts and gear. Wield the crackling force of Odiac, cleanse corrupted trees to reveal hidden corners of the land, and uncover focused paths through Faction Tales. As Midrath expands, so too does the path ahead.

Soulframe Preludes 8

Soulframe Preludes 8, after being moved out of the end of the year, is coming this week, and Digital Extremes has a new Soulshorts with more details.

The team continues to work on the game and they do have some very important updates here. You will be able to pet your wolf puppy. You’ll get that pup after helping its mom, Orengall, which will come with a little quest. Do the quest with her and earn the Orengall Pact and she'll trust you with the care of one of her puppies. Pick the pup you want, name it, and pet it. That’s Soulframe, everyone.

The wolf inspiration runs deep in what comes from the Pact, as they note in the video on development of the skill tree and aspects, “It's shaping up really fun. It's very very very very wolf inspired…here's a lot of wolf. Lot of wolf!” If you've been waiting for more since they revealed Orengall and the pup you can raise, there’s a little longer to wait before you can jump in and see more. One of the powers in the Pact will give you slightly faster travel, but not exactly fast travel. Fast travel is one of the questions that came up in the community Q&A.

There’s an environmental hazard they hint at, saying you could run into it while doing the Orengall quest. This is part of what they have been working on to get ready for the release of Preludes 8, as the community Q&A reveals. Environmental hazards are part of the process, and there are even new enemy types they’re working on balance and placement for. We also get some info on the Silent Rose Enclave, the previously-revealed social hub, and some plans like eventual direct access to the Nightfold from this location, which could help parties to coordinate better.

When Preludes 8 comes out, with wider access, the team is hoping to avoid resets or wipes, though active development will continue, so they can’t guarantee anything. They do acknowledge that people spend time and effort so they're hoping to respect that by minimizing the chances of resets.

Soulframe Preludes 8: Arriving January 2025

As the team continues to work away on our next Update, we’ve made the decision to delay Soulframe Preludes 8 until after the holidays in January 2025.

Preludes 8 will bring an Update worthy of the hunt complete with an early version of Warsongs, Orengall’s very own Fable, and the first social hub - the hidden Silent Rose Enclave, where the Drippin’ Flagon tavern waits to welcome you.

We appreciate your patience and, in the meantime, 10,000 Preludes invites have been sent out as we prepare for this release.

As the chill of Dolaig settles throughout Alca, we bid farewell to a year of growth, learnings, and humble progress. This year brought much: the opportunity to open our Pre-Alpha wider to the world, deliver 7 major Updates to Soulframe Preludes, launch our community forums and Devstreams, and welcome the ever-growing community of Envoys (all of you!).

Through your adventures - facing Fables, standing against Ode’n forces, braving Alca’s untamed lands, and even mastering Regatta alongside Avakot - you’ve shown us the soul of this world. Your continued feedback, reports, and passion have helped shape these early days of Soulframe.

As the team continues work on the next Update, we’ve made the decision to push Preludes 8 until after the holidays (in the meantime, 10,000 Preludes invites have been sent out as we prepare for this release!). Arriving in January, this Update will bring an early version of Warsongs, Orengall’s Fable, and our first social hub - the hidden Silent Rose Enclave.

As we look toward 2025, the echoes of Alca’s past grow louder. We look forward to expanding Soulframe Preludes to the world, welcoming more Envoys into the ‘fold alongside new tales, lands, systems and souls. Watch a glimpse of what lies ahead in our 2025 preview here:
